How to dispose of your (hazardous) Waste

Disposing of Hazardous Waste

In conjunction with the Safe Disposal of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Campaign, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center has set up a dedicated HHW collection point to encourage team members, visitors to the facility and the public to dispose of their HHW, responsibly and safely.

According to Alan Pryor, General Manager, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, household hazardous waste are household products that contain potentially hazardous ingredients that may be corrosive, toxic, ignitable or reactive and require special care when it comes to disposal.

“While the improper disposal of HHW such as putting them out with the trash may not be immediately obvious, their improper disposal can pollute the environment and pose a threat to human health. Our Safe Disposal of HHW Campaign is to encourage and offer, team members, visitors to the facility and the public a convenient and safe option to dispose of their HHW.”

Items accepted for disposal are:

Ø SW103 – Used batteries (batteries from laptops, mobile phones, rechargeable & alkaline/button batteries, etc.)

Ø SW109 – Fluorescent lighting (blubs, tubes, LEDs, etc.)

Ø SW110 – e-waste or ‘used’ electrical and electronic devices (computers, TVs, printers, scanners, mobile phones, remote controls, calculators, cameras, etc.)

Located at the Concourse Level, Centre Core, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the HHW collection point opens from 9.00am to 10.00pm daily.
